Repurpose & Refresh - The Callaway

This time of year is a time for renewal, but in Callaway County, it isn’t restricted to the plants and trees. It’s the perfect time to refresh and refurbish your home – all in one place.

Callaway County is filled with distinctive shops offering up scaled furnishings, home accessories, antiques, art, flowers and treasures designed to give your home a fresh touch or an entire spring makeover.

The Brick District in Fulton is proud to be home to Re-Made for a Purpose, a resale boutique and up-styled creations shop with a heart, staffed entirely by people with disabilities who use their special talents and imagination to create uplifting inspirational gifts and home decor.

When you step into the doorway at 528 Court St., you'll enter a world discovery. Find distinctive vintage pieces up-cycled to fit today’s home décor at Chalk It Up. Commission a one-of-a-kind piece of art to fill a blank wall at Garriott Porter Art Studio, or do it yourself with one of their classes and the right art supplies.

Also in the Brick District, Prickly Pear Antiques and More has treasures old and new, including vintage signs and collectibles. It’s a great mix of antiques and home décor.

If you need help pulling your space together, Grae Studio is a full service interior design studio. They also offer a curated collection of home decor and vintage goods at their shop, Home Wares by Grae Studio, located at 917 E Walnut St.

Rock Garden Antique Barn is housed in a huge, restored barn in Fulton and offers high quality and unique pieces that have a lot of history behind them. Time your trip right and you can end your shopping spree with a refreshing glass of wine and lovely view, just up the road at Serenity Valley Winery.

A bit farther afield, Apple Wagon Antique & Decor Mall in Williamsburg offers 31,000 square feet of antiques, metal yard decor and other treasures. It’s a variety that will not disappoint. (Pro Tip: It’s a short drive on up to Crane’s Country Store where you can refresh your wardrobe, fuel up your tank and your tummy. )

Their name says it all at Dis-N-Dat Antiques & Collectibles in Holts Summit. They feature antique furniture, bookshelves, lamps and more at reasonable prices.

For antiques and home decor with a special flair, make a visit to Southern Willow Interiors in New Bloomfield. At least 90 percent of the items in the store have been upcycled. They’re quality and will stand the test of time.

Carolyn Linton is a master maker preserving the heritage and ambiance of old barns and homesteads by transforming the reclaimed wood into focal pieces to fit any décor at Green Meadow Barn Company near Millersburg. Available by appointment only, so be sure to plan ahead.

When spring starts busting out all over outdoors, your indoor spaces will reflect that fresh vibe after your shopping trip to Callaway County.
