Outdoor Adventures the Callaway

Callaway County boasts an abundance of options for outdoor fun. The cross-state Katy Trail includes three trailheads in southern Callaway County in Tebbetts, Mokane, and Portland along the Missouri River. This portion of the trail is also open to horses.

The 6.9 mile Stinson Creek Trail follows the path of Stinson Creek as it winds through Fulton. The scenic trail features the Covered Bridge just west of Business 54 and is limited to pedestrians and bicycles.

Bring your four-legged friends for a romp in the Fulton Dog Park, where segregated play areas keep dogs safe and happy. The park is fully fenced with shade trees, benches and picnic tables, and a watering station for visitors.

Get up close and personal with alpacas on a working fiber farm at Alpacas d’Auxvasse. The fiber shop offers handmade yarns, rugs, and scarves for purchase.

Just outside Fulton in Kingdom City are five large woodland fields waiting for you to wage your battle. Battle Creek Paintball is the largest paintball facility in Missouri and offers a variety of paintball and laser tag packages.

For fishing boating, hunting, birding, and outdoor photography, visit Little Dixie Conservation Area in Millersburg. Or stroll through the beauty of natural gardens in Prairie Garden Trust near New Bloomfield.

Tackle the puzzle of navigating the corn maze at Shyrocks Callaway Farms. Other seasonal fun includes hayrides, campfires, a U-pick pumpkin patch, and the famous gumball coaster.

Beat the heat of a Missouri summer at the Fulton Water Works splash pad at Memorial Park or the Oestreich Swimming Pool
For the golf lover, Callaway County has three courses: Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, and Railwood Golf Club in Holts Summit.
