July Heat Meets Callaway Cool

When summer turns up the temps and you’re looking for relief – come to Callaway County, a place that knows a lot about bringing the cool. Here are just a few ways you can chill - or thrill - your way through summer.

Mid-Week Date Night

Enjoy an authentic Brooklyn-style pizza, red checkered tables, and live music in Fulton’s downtown Brick District during Live Music Wednesdays (the first & second Wednesdays) at Brooklyn Pizza, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

After dinner take a little stroll around the corner, and grab a frozen yogurt from Lulu’s before they close at 8pm.

Thirsty Thursday

On July 13, the Brick District hosts it's annual Ladies Sip & Shop Night from 4-7 p.m. Grab your best pal and sip complementary beverages while shopping. Be sure to grab a passport for chances to win prizes.

Friday Fun Night

Pairing a frozen cocktail with The Station’s Friday Night Music Series is the definition of chill. Music starts at 7 p.m., right in the heart of Fulton’s Brick District.

If you want to mix some thrill with your chill, how about some night time dirt track racing at Callaway Raceway, just south of Fulton. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. Note: If the heat becomes to excessive, races may be delayed or cancelled. Please check their Facebook page for up-to-date info.

Super Saturdays

There’s nothing like spending a Saturday morning at a farmer’s market before the temperatures start rising. Check out the local bounty at markets in Fulton from 8 a.m. to noon and New Bloomfield from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Wood-fired pizza goes great with a side of live music every summer Saturday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Serenity Valley Winery near Fulton. Be sure to stay for their fabulous sunset view.

Enjoy a selection of beverages, including their signature elderberry cocktails along with live music on Saturday evenings at ElderBlossom View in New Bloomfield. Music starts 6 p.m.

The second Sunday of the month (July 9) is Serenity Valley Winery’s Sunday Serenade, with live, acoustic music starting at 3 p.m.

Revved Up Weekends

Check out Fulton’s newest entertainment venue, The Yard at the historic Fulton Depot which is under renovation. Enjoy tasty fare from the Smokin Pickle food truck, outdoor games, and plenty of gathering spots. Shop nextdoor at Homewares by Grae Studio. Hours Friday - Sunday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. On July 13, hours extend to include Thursdays.

July 14-15, combine fun tunes with fun eats at Frogs & Hogs at Amvets Post 153 in Mokane. Enjoy frog legs and pulled pork, raffles, motorcyle poker run, and live music both evenings.

Eat, drink, rock out – whatever it takes to make your summer cool – do it the Callway.
